After being in a sort of reading slump the past few months, this well-written book was exactly what I needed.
Jedrowski's writing is just beautiful. His words flow easily and I found myself turning the pages without even realising.
The historical aspect is very interesting, mostly because I did not know a lot about it. And the protagonist's struggle is heartbreaking to hear about.
This book made me think about things and inspired me in many ways.

This book was so beautifully written and bittersweet, it focused on being on the other side of a world war and struggling with feelings for the same gender in a society that frowns upon it. I enjoyed that the backdrop was post world war Poland, as well as learning more about what happened after the Soviet Union took over.
