“In Jerusalem, every footstep is a grave.”
This debut collection by Mohammed El-Kurd is as haunting as it is powerful. I needed to stop and take deep breaths when reading this collection because of how striking the imagery and narratives were. Each poem is a raw, unfiltered window into the Palestinian experience and provides invaluable insight into the culture and identity. Every page truly moved me and will be sure to return to these beautifully, brutal poems over and over again.
Without a doubt, Rifqa is simply a MUST read.
