the story telling was profound without sacrificing reachability. i honestly couldn’t put this down. Morales is astute and hilarious and her view of the world is a soft place to land. thoroughly enjoyed and thoroughly learned.

Powerful essays on life growing up in the Central Valley. Clear, concise writing that knows how to tug the reader in.

Hard to get into first couple of essays, last 3 are real good. Probably the change in voice for me, from a very young self to adulthood.
