It's been a while since I picked up one of Sand's Argeneau family books. Once I opened the pages and devoured the first chapter I realized what a mistake I made by letting them go so long. With all the heavy hitting, punch-in-the-gut vamp romances available, this series is a blessed refuge when I need a little pick-me-up and a good dose of laughter. Much as I love the harder, more eerie vamp romances, I know I'll always come back to this series because of its humor and great characters.

It was so fun seeing grumpy old Lucian find a life mate! The heroine does have some deep issues that are resolved fast, which makes them seem less serious.

Narration: New to me, and loved him. I was surprised to only see he’s narrated these books.

Another wonderful book in the Argeneau series. Lucian and Leigh are wonderful characters and watching their relationship develop is a lot of fun.

This books followed Lucien. He seems like such a tough guy from others POV and he starts out really tough. He falls for Leigh and it's hilarious. Both characters are pretty funny. Lucien does not know how to be human and Leigh doesn't know how to be immortal. Their misunderstanding are fun to read.

This whole series is just so cute!
Grumpy 7000 year old camp falls for newly turned sassy bar owner while teaching her how to be a vamp.
I was almost irate when I though Donny killed the dog… but thankfully he didn’t!

Ahhhhhh. I had a hard time putting this down. I was doing the "I will just read to the end of the chapter and then I will go clean my bathroom." and then I got to the end of the chapter and immediatly started the next chapter.

The story opens with Leigh Gerard walking home from work at about 5:00 in the morning. Leigh owns a bar in Kansas City and after it closes she stays and balances reciepts while the cleaning company comes in and hoses the place down and then walks the few blocks home. It's never been a problem - at that hour in the morning most "bad guys" are heading to bed and most "good guys" aren't up yet. Except tonight she hears footsteps behind her. Footsteps that mirror her own. She speeds up - crosses the street - and looks for any sign of someone being awake. A light pops on at a house and a large dog and a woman in a robe pop out of a house. Sadly it's of no use. Soon another man joins the first and he is Morgan - an ancient Vampire turned rogue. He takes over Leighs mind and they rush her to the waiting van. Before they even get to their destination the ancient vampire bites Leigh and then feeds her his blood - telling her that she will become one of them - and they will live in a nest together like some bad B-Movie come to life.

The light is just starting to come up and Lucian Argeneau - along with his two cohorts Mortimer and Bricker - are getting ready to clear out a nest of rogue vampires. A dark van pulls into the driveway of the house they are going to clean & out steps Morgan with the waitress from the bar they have eaten at every night this week! Lucian is non-plussed by this - but Mortimer and Bricker insist they must save Leigh. So when they enter the house 15 minutes later to destroy the rogue vampires - and find Leigh trying to sneak out - they try and watch out for her. As the house burns to the ground they spirit Leigh away in their vehicles and try to bring her to their hotel where she will be safe as she turns.

Through a series of humorous events - Leigh ends up in Canada at an Argeneau family home with crusty old Lucian watching over her progress. It's great watching this old vampire learn new tricks and Leigh is such a likeable character. When they finally wake up to the attraction between them it is fun to watch them fumble around with it. There is MUCH interference from the rest of the Argeneau gang - and that is fun too.

**Slight Spoiler Alert** I did take issue with how careless the whole gang was with talking about sensitive information at the Vampire bar near the end there - I mean seriously - Vampires have REALLY excellent hearing - so aren't you pretty much shouting out the sensitive information? Yeah. Still - it was a really enjoyable book.

On to book #7.
