Slow paced in a good way. Mysterious but also fulfilling. Great series!

Again, an enjoyable historical fiction. I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first one but I feel invested in the family and shall continue to read the series.

This book was just a bit too nice for me. The dialogue is a bit too polite and the emotions a bit too romantic comedy meets chick lit. However the mystery surrounding Pa Salt has sucked me back in.

The historical part of this novel was definitely more enjoyable than Ally's personal story. Anna's story felt far more realistic. I found the controlling nature of Ally's relationship with Theo challenging to read and problematic in that it was portrayed as loving.

Overall these books are probably not really for me but I will eventually read them to see a conclusion to the mystery.
