I find it hard to rate story collections from different writers, because
a. different writing styles
b. different creativity levels
c. it feels unfair to rate a collection low, when the author/editor of this book put in the work to curate the stories and the rating is now reflecting something mostly on random authors work, rather than his own. (hard to explain this part) but I think most of you get where I'm coming from.
So, I've decided to rate collections based on the actual book itself and not individual stories.
Has Martin Edwards done a good job of capturing unique Christmas stories? Yes, he did. Personally, I haven't heard any of these before.
Were these fun? Yes, most of them were. Obviously, this again comes down to my subjective taste.
He has another Christmas mystery collection called 'Silent Nights' and while I haven't finished that one yet, I can see the different style he was going for the two books. While the other one holds a collection of more mysterious stories and the title is nailing the theme on the head, these stories are more action-packed and I've appreciated him keeping the stories in the same category.
So while all in all, I had a few good reads and some more 'meh' ones, I still think Edwards's collections are always a treat to pick up.

My first British Library Classic, dipped into over a few Christmas's. This was actually very good. Some great, festive vintage crime stories that were surprisingly dark at times. Perfect read for the time of year and one that has given me a few new authors to try.
