The buildup alone in this issue was absolutely fantastic. They did a great job flipping perspectives, so even though it was sort of clear right from the start what was going on here…it felt heavier and more real. And deeply disturbing. I loved the way they handled it.

I find it fitting that this first run of Young Justice under Bendis is called Young Justice in Seven Crises because [b:issue #1|43130288|Young Justice (2019-) #1|Brian Michael Bendis|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1546775023s/43130288.jpg|66931262] is the first crisis, [b:issue #2|43715311|Young Justice (2019-) #2|Brian Michael Bendis|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1548548675s/43715311.jpg|68029185] is the second crisis, [b:issue #3|43722560|Young Justice (2019-) #3|Brian Michael Bendis|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1552088400s/43722560.jpg|68044310] is the third crisis, and so on and so forth. They range from terrible to atrocious to mediocre.

My thoughts on this issue:
- Finally, Superboy! This is so Superboy-centric (not necessarily a bad thing).

- I am so glad we were shown the Bart and Superboy meeting. What with Bendis leaving out the Amethyst and Robin meeting back in [b:issue #2|43715311|Young Justice (2019-) #2|Brian Michael Bendis|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1548548675s/43715311.jpg|68029185], I am even more grateful for these moments:

- I feel like this issue was so SHORT. Like next to nothing happened and there was only one moment that I was surprised by and enjoyed. Everything else was meh. Could’ve been worse, could’ve been better.

- You can tell that the [b:last issue|43715311|Young Justice (2019-) #2|Brian Michael Bendis|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1548548675s/43715311.jpg|68029185] was rubbish when they waste a whole page of this issue showing one fight scene from the last issue. And then proceed to have Cassie apologise about five times (no one cares Cassie) and spend about three pages showing some of the “team” (they’re not a team yet) have a conversation about a fight that wasn’t even shown. I wanted to see the fight! The conversation didn’t add anything to the issue other than showing Cassie was a mess and Tim is totally still in love with her. Oh, and Amethyst blames Cassie for being captured but who even is Amethyst anyway????

- Whenever you have Bart on the page you have an opportunity to reference anything because that’s just who his character is and I’m glad that they play on that.

- Conner could not have looked hotter. Honestly. Just look:

- Does time pass differently on the Opalworld? Or how long has Superboy been missing? Because
the guy has a beard, a wife, and a child.

- Genuine hats off to all the artists who thought this was a necessary inclusion in the issue:

It was. And thank you for it. It’s beautiful!!!

So all in all, there was not enough in this issue for the title to redeem itself from the let down that was [b:issue #1|43130288|Young Justice (2019-) #1|Brian Michael Bendis|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1546775023s/43130288.jpg|66931262] and the absolute rubbish that was [b:issue #2|43715311|Young Justice (2019-) #2|Brian Michael Bendis|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1548548675s/43715311.jpg|68029185]. There was one interesting moment and that’s it. I recommend you lower your hopes because it hasn’t been great so far and in all honesty I don’t think it’s going to get any better.
