This story was charming! I loved the characters, one or rather two in particular. Nice re-telling with a fun twist on the original story. Very cute.

This book is a 2008 nominee for a Beehive award in the young adult category. It was a twist on the Rapunzel story and I enjoyed it, but the ending was a little strange to me.

The romance between Rapunzel and Harry was beautiful. I liked how the sorceress wasn't a completely evil character, and she truly loved both of her daughters. I liked the aspect of seeing into people's hearts and then showing it to them. I just feel like Rue and Alex's romance was reeeeally rushed and cheesy and the ending was also a bit rushed but I loved the last scene.

Also a few things were kind of foggy and never well-explained. Like the random wizard's curse for no reason? And how Rue had to be freed? Those went over my head and I really think those parts of the book could have been better explained.

It was a good read overall.

A 2023 reread for book club. This is still my favorite Rapunzel retelling.

I really enjoyed the characters in this one. I can't really explain why they spoke to me, but they did.

This was one of my favorites of Cameron Dokey's books. Nice to know that people exist who can see past appearances (even if it's only a fictional character)!

This is a great retelling of Rapunzel with a lot of surprises and twists as well as some great characters that will keep the reader interested until they reach the end.
