All I can say is what a ride. Basilia has been one of my favorite characters ever. Must read this series!

Great ending to a great series.

It was actually a funny read along with an enjoyable read, because Basi's behaviour and thoughts were oftentimes hilariou.

I can't believe the disappointment of this book!

It's like something happened to Basi to become such a back stabbing B*.

There is constant push back and forth, and repeated thoughts, thinking one - doing another, thinking one - but getting cold feet when it's time to do it and thinking about it again. - multiple times...

Then
Spoilerinstead of trusting Kyros and working together against the common enemy she betrays him THREE times, lies again and again, tricks him, works behind his back, hides important information, spies for herself.. puts lives of people she supposedly cares about in mortal danger while having the means to help them - she chooses not to.. until she's lost if all. Wow!
And then she does help them at the end - She could have done so from beginning and save the drama!...
. This book is all angst and drama and there is little focus on real relationships.

I loved the first 2 books and now I feel like I've wasted my time with this series. And more importantly it's a second time with the author.

The story structure is pretty much the same in here and werewolf den series - similar things happens in books 1, 2 and 3 at pretty much the same time in book.
If that's the pattern then it's definitely not for me...

After the cliffhanger ending of book 2, I wasn’t sure how the author was going to pull off the story in one book. But she does it wonderfully.

In the conclusion to the series, Basilla and Kyros seem to be in an impossible spot. Once Kyros finds out Basillia’s secret, the stakes are even higher. It’s up to Basil to end the game and save Kyros and his family.

It was a great ending to a fun series. The characters have stayed in my head. I can’t wait to see what the author writes next.

I’d highly recommend this series - start at book 1.

So I skipped book 2 and read the first couple chapters of book 3 before skipping to the last few chapters.

I did not miss anything. I was able to follow it all perfectly.

My main squabble with this series is that it is such a downer. In Book 1, Basi is trapped and more trapped and then causes deaths and cannot seem to make a good decision because no one gives her all the info she needs. I love this about her character. Surprisingly. She’s imperfect and trying and frustrated. But the bad side is that there is no good side. It’s all sad. And then sadder. And then somehow ends at even more sad.

And the relationship between these people is frustrating and not at all well done. I don’t root for them. I root for them to never get together. He is unapologetic and she constantly tells him straight how she feels and he constantly hides shit.

The writing is amazing. The world building is excellent.

But it was too much of a bummer to sit through the whole series.

Book two is still my favorite of the three, but the end of the series did deliver on its promises and wrap up the loose ends.

I think the reason why I wasn’t super jazzed about this one, like book 2, is simply because it was easy. Kyros lost some of his edge. Vampires weren’t very scary anymore. The game was over. But, admittedly, those things needed to happen, which is why I’m still giving this four stars. I KNOW this book will appeal to many people because it has so many good parts. I just also know that I needed less of a pretty painting after book two.

The oldies, the siblings, and the Queen’s nipples are my favorite parts. Also, I liked the two main characters through their entire story arcs, which is hard to accomplish.

This book does not suck.

I read a lot. I have read close to 900 books since the pandemic hit. I have read a lot of fantasy romance and a lot of various varieties of romance. This trilogy was excellent. It is so different from what you normally read in vampire romance. I loved the whole game plot within the city and how it works. It was really well thought out and I just loved it. Often times with fantasy when there are a large number of characters things can get confusing for the reader but I didn't find that at all with this series. I loved all of the side characters, siblings, tommy, her security group. Everyone had such awesome little quirks to them. It's really really good. I loved these three books. My only complaint is I don't love slow burn and these are a bit slow for my liking in terms of the sexy time. However, even with it being slow to take off I am still leaving a five star rating because this last book is fire. Well done Kelly St. Clare I will be looking for more of your work after this!
