A short read but packed with suspense. The strength in this book lies in the possibility of such a scenario. Trapped in the ocean with miles of water but nowhere to go as small creatures begin to take over your boat. The personality of each character is not fully developed but we know enough about each to feel their fear and panic. The characters react as one would expect anyone else to react. No overt heroic acts, just family trying to help each other. The barnacles and character reactions make the story believable and plant a seed of fear in the reader. Definitely will rethink any fishing trips. The simplicity of this story adds to the horror as it moves at a quick and exciting pace. Worth the read. Look forward to more stories by the author.

"Sacculina" by Philip Fracassi is a fun horror novella with a creepy ocean setting. The story is fast-paced and keeps you engaged, but the characters could be better developed. Overall, a decent choice for a quick horror read.

This was just a really creepy  novella. Doesn’t say anything ground breaking but was a very enjoyable read. It could have been longer but didn’t feel like it was missing anything at the same time. If you have a fear of the ocean already maybe skip this one.
