When I heard about this book I was pretty excited to read it. This book screamed Summer to me so I waited until now to read it. Unfortunately this book disappointed me a little bit. The main characters seemed to childish in some of the situations and I just couldn’t stand Sadie most of the times. Actually Sadie was the character that I liked less in this book. I didn’t have a lot of problems with Rosanna and Darcy but I just didn’t connect with any of these characters. I would like that the author would focus a little bit more in the main characters friendship instead of their love life. And that ending. I didn’t even know that I was in the end of the book because it was so unexpected. And I didn’t even knew that this book was a part of a series. However that ending is going to make me read the next book and maybe the characters will become more relatable. Something I loved about this book was the New York descriptions. This book is not only about the love in the girl’s life but also about the love that they feel for New York and, most importantly, the love that the author feels for the city. After reading this book I just want to visit New York even more that I wanted before.

Overall, this was a cute contemporary romance but I just didn’t connect with the characters. If I were you I would probably give it a try especially if you like these type of books.

I love Suzanne Colasanti's work, I've read SO many of her books, so when I saw this one was released I just had to read it. However, it took me a while to actually get it because, you know, RL. When I finally bought it in February, I immediately started reading it.... and then I stopped. I've been going through some stuff and it has been really hard for me to get into books lately. I went from reading 100+ books a year to not wanting to read anything at all. When I finally forced myself to finish reading this book, I didn't really like it. I love her writing style, I liked the different POVs, but I didn't like the characters OR the cliffhanger. It might be me, and my whole issues, that prevented me from liking it, but I just didn't like it at all. I will definitely be giving it another chance when I'm doing better, but for right now, I'm giving it 2 stars. I couldn't seem to click with the main characters, they all seemed too entitled, and it seemed like we only got glimpses of who they are and what motivates them.

I didn't know this was part of a series! I should have checked, but it still annoyed the heck out of me.

I really enjoy Colasonti's books even though they are super cheesy. There were a couple eye rolling parts in this book, but over all I really enjoyed this!

I’ve read a few books by this author and was excited to dive into this story. Three girls, one summer, and New York City as the back drop sounded like the perfect young adult read. The book was good, but I sometimes found it hard to relate too. The characters felt contrived at times and far from realistic. I struggled to get into this book, but at the half-way point I felt like I couldn’t put it down. I wanted to know what happened. I’d become invested. The plot for each girl kind of snuck up on me. I found myself pushing for, feeling for, and wanting something for each of them. The ending was a little more abrupt than I was expecting, but I enjoyed the hopeful tone of it. It left things hanging which I understand as there is another book that will continue this story.
Something I really loved about this book was the setting and how the characters interacted with it. Each girl had a different reason for falling in love with New York. Each girl often mentioned the things she loved about New York. The author did an amazing job describing the city from each girl’s perspective. It was like rediscovering a city that I’ve been too and made my own opinions about. I also loved the friendship aspect of Sadie, Darcy, and Rosanna. Three strangers came together to share and apartment and ended up forming a wonderful friendship. I’m interested to see where the next book takes me.

City Love by Susane Colasanti is the start of a cute, contemporary trilogy set in New York City about three college bound girls on the cusp of love. Read my full review here Link goes live 9/15/2017
