Maybe I'm influenced by the fact that I read it to my grand daughter who wasn't impressed or I might have given more stars.
I like a lot about this book: the seek and find aspects, the pile of fish picture books on the stand, the idea of ghosts living among us, and the message of finding your own people.

just lovely. quiet and a little silly, but not disrespectful. I honestly can't think of a better book to give to a kid after the loss of a beloved pet. (and seriously, that was NOT what I was expecting, given Lemony Snicket)

I do love my children's books with a bit of morbidness, and this fits that. But it's really a story of finding your own place in life, where you can truly be you and still fit in and feel at home. Plus, come on, it's Lemony Snicket!

Oh, I love this weird little book! The story itself is a great concept (a goldfish ghost goes out looking for company), but Lisa Brown's illustrations are what brings it to life--so to speak. You will delight in the illustrations, particularly the crowded beach and street scenes where there's so much to spot (can you spy the human ghosts about to take a swim?).
