Only the second book I've read where I thought the movie was better.
What a fantastic ride! All the action and mayhem you'd expect, with a tender, socially conscious heart at the center. I think the movie got a lot of its raunchy fun tone correct, but the trade compilation is still a perfect package with lots of relevant social commentary. I also like the allegory that humanity is a virus and global warming is the earth reacting as any organism would, developing a fever. Extra special points for the Red Dwarf shout-out.
Olihan tässä ehdottomasti parempi loppuratkaisu, kuin leffassa. :D
2.5 Stars
Honestly, I was expecting much more. I loved Mark Miller's comic Kick-Ass, so I was expecting a similar reaction to this one especially after loving the movie. Unfortunately, The Secret Service: Kingsman was all over the place. I didn't feel any connection to the characters. The writing felt dry. Plot? There wasn't one. Furthermore, the villain was boring.
Just, meh.

Wish I would have read this before the film, because the film is a lot better. It adds much needed depth to the supporting characters and improves the ending a lot.
Wow, this was actually really different from the film. I really appreciated some key elements of this verses the movie, the movie was ultimately so much more entertaining though. In this Eggsy is actually set on a plan to become a spy that will take 3 rigorous years of training. It's quite a bit more realistic than the over the top, balls to the wall, kill everything, action packed thriller that is the movie.
The graphic novel version of Kingsman is more disturbing than the movie. This will not be a surprise to anyone familiar with Mark Millar's work. I actually liked it a lot less than the movie. In the book, Gazelle is a man, and he has no knife legs. So... MEH.

fast paced and it got me thinking about different ideas for my own writings
it's fairly realistic, in the sense that connections could allow one who has constantly screwed up in life an opportunity to get ahead in life without really learning it. it lacked realism in the sense that street smarts would allow to make the best spy. I think that is a bit much; street smarts would provide a certain edge, but it would not allow for one to excel pass those who have trained to blend in. I mean, seriously, the drug lord ordeal would not have ended so smoothly or nonchalantly. Alas, I gave an extra star because the story did get my brain sparking on story plots I could write for my own characters

Like most Mark Millar comics, good ideas, but I usually prefer the movie adaptations better because they make the characters much more likable
What?! No Roxy or Merlin?!
There are a lot of different details but it's the same basic story. Overall, I enjoyed the film more.
