Picked this up because I enjoyed the movie based on it. This is one of those rare instances where the filmed version greatly improves upon the source material.
Reading this series I could see easily how in a way it was a storyboard or blueprint of what would become Kingsman the movie. That being said this still allowed me to feel al ot for the characters. Eggsy in particular, had things happen to him here that I wish had made it onto the screen, including the classist attitudes of the other candidates. It was a very satisfying read.
It's okay, but the movie is more interesting and these characters are not likable.
this was even less than i was expecting it to be, and my hopes were very low
Honestly, I preferred the movie, though this isn't terrible.
I realky enjoyed this - the artwork is fantastic, and it has a great sense of humour. I had seen the movie before, and although there are differences, I enjoy both of them equally. There is also an interesting interview at the back with Dave Gibbons, which is worth a read. Would definitely read again and recommend.
fast-paced
While I did love this comic, I actually think the movie did a much better job of telling the story. Also, I think the changes the movie made make more sense than some of the choices in the comic. Not teen appropriate (I would have a hard time suggesting it to even high school seniors), a lot of language, violence, blood, and sex.
The cover is completely misleading to the actual contents of the book. I really did enjoy the story that inspired my favorite movie of all time, though. Everything ends differently from the movie and the characters are entirely different. Eggsy also seems a little bit more brutal than in the movie as well. I really really liked it.
In one of the rare instances, I think the movie did a better job here.
