Entertaining. So many unsolicited marriage proposals. Set partly in South Africa and there is casual racism which is taken for granted as a natural attitude for the characters to have, but was uncomfortable to read in 2024.

The book started off so fun, it was almost like watching an action movie. However due to its racism and misogyny and the weird Tarzan-Jane like dynamic between the main couple I couldn't enjoy this fully.

Also Anne saying that the killer is nice???? What???? She had some serious issues. I also felt like the whole "I'm not Lucas I'm Harry" thing was pointless.

It got off to a strong start - intriguing heroine and mystery -  but the severe anti-Blackness during the portion of the book that takes place in South Africa is pretty upsetting. I think this one should stay in the vaults.
