Rebecca has done it again! This book is full of excitement and I looked forward to seeing if Elodie made a success of the Library.

She comes from a very business and goal orientated family and wants to do something more substantial with her life. She has this idea of borrowing a person and finding out more about their life.

It's a brilliant community feel book with some great characters. Harry and Alfie are my absolute favourites.

Early on I thought the only cliché this book was NOT going to hit was the heroine losing her job and going home to find her fiancé in bed with her best friend. Oh, how wrong I was. Rebecca Raisin cleverly layered her foreshadowing, with the more obvious clues turning out to be red herrings or misdirection. What I got instead was an absolutely delightful and uplifting story of empowerment, friendship, acceptance and love.

My initial impression of Elodie wasn't the best, she appeared to lack any kind of backbone. As the story progressed I quickly grew to love her and could understand more and more how she had ended up boxed into a corner, a job, and a life, that she didn't want. Finn felt just a little too perfect, but that's entirely down to my tastes and loving a bad boy book boyfriend! Given the audience for this book and the very gentle nature of the story, he was a great fit.

If I had one wish about this book it would be that it had been a little longer. So much focus, rightly, was on the human "library books", but it did mean the romance didn't feel fully fleshed out. It resulted in the feeling that some key aspects of Elodie and Finn's story were told rather than shown. A real positive of the book was the wide cast of supporting characters who helped add depth to the story. That along with great writing and an engaging plot made this a wonderful feel-good read.

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Thank you to HQ for my copy of this book via Netgalley. I have been reading Rebecca’s stories for many years now and each one is always a delight.
Elodie is such an easy character to identify with. At her heart she is a book lover just like us. Yes her life has other complications but at her core she just wants to curl up with a good book and that is something I can get behind.
The key message that Rebecca is trying to convey in this book is to not judge people on appearances. To be kind and to look deeper. Willow Grove is a town that is a bit stuck in its ways with your typical small town gossip. Elodie is the breath of fresh air they need.
While I loved all the ‘books’ Elodie had for the People library, my favourite character has to be Alfie. Alfie is a straight shooter and you will always know where you are with him. I just wanted to be his friend and show the world what a special person he is.
This story is a book lover's dream. It’s so easy to fall in love with. I was very happy to spend hours and hours in the world that Rebecca has created. This story is the perfect escapist story.
