5.0

This wee 5 x 5 chapbook has 3 powerfully crafted stories -- each one full of protagonists exploring their memories and experiences with death. The first story is about a slaughterhouse worker who had a fairly miserable tour on a Martian colony. The second is about a hospice worker who facilitates the deaths of some of his clients, and at the behest of his sister -- their father -- seeing ghosts of his former self all the time. The third is about a person who suffers a traumatic brain injury, falls in with a messianic nut job and his girlfriend -- despite a botched convenient store robbery -- finds her way back home and to a somewhat "normal" life.

The writing is really strong and compelling - I look forward to reading more by this author!
