Let me just say, Elektra was a monster in the first three books, and now we know why ... why why whywhywhywhy. I have complete sympathy for her and don't hold too much of a grudge if she wants to continue eating her way through the Tri-Star system.

Actually, let me back up and start from the beginning. This book and I got off to a rough start. Honestly, I was having none of the blatant sexism when it came to Elektra's creator.

"Were you nervous?" asked the young woman. She was possibly too young, Tritan realized. But as he allowed his eyes to roam across her gorgeous body, any reservations left his mind.

Or this ...

Like a wave, understanding washed over him and then the anger took hold. "It's her fault." He sneered up at her, filled with a newfound clarity. "You did this," he yelled. All Tritan saw in the figure was Elektra. That morning she had been his crowning achievement; now she was the anchor tied around his foot. She seduced him. It was all becoming clear. From the very first design sketch he saw with those curves and those lips, she had clouded his mind and led his down this ludicrous path ... All gone thanks to her.

Ahh, yes, let's blame the woman, even though you were the idiot who decided to take technology too far and too human. "It's all her fault," the drunken idiot rages ...

And that's where I started rooting for Elektra. "What happens when she decides she's superior to us?, a character asks earlier in the book. Well, you're about to find out, my friend. I was so invested in Elektra's revenge, in the knowledge of what she will do soon.

Though this came out as the fourth book in the series, it's sort of a prequel. Honestly, though, I really liked where we learn about Elektra after already seeing the horror she has committed. It flipped all the previous conceptions about her on the head and I loved it.

As for the narrator, I thought David B. Smith was a better narrator than the one for [b:Brood Company: A Tri-Star System Story|35061768|Brood Company A Tri-Star System Story|Steve Beaulieu|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1493899272l/35061768._SY75_.jpg|56354737], though he's still not my favorite in this series. He didn't do too bad of a job though.
