It gets dumb at the end.

Great book! Read it such a long time ago that I can't remember exactly the plot, but I remembered the feeling of being deeply drawn into the story.

Interesting book about a young man running away from the foster system to find his dad. The man he thinks is his dad turns out to be a well-known jazz musician. I liked the jazz theme, the setting in Michigan and the compassion of the band members.

Young Bud, left an orphan, seeks to follow the clues his mother gave him to find his long lost father.

Christian Paul Curtis is hands down my favorite YA author. We are three for three great books. This wasn’t my favorite so far, but it is still well written, well paced, and well worth reading.

This book came to my attention during the unit on multicultural fiction and it sounded like a good read. It was! Who would have thought that a book about an motherless boy trying to find his father during the Great Depression could be so delightfully funny. Everytime Bud added an item to his Throughout the book, Bud adds ideas to his list of "Rules and Things for Having a Funner Life and Making a Better Liar Out of Yourself" I'd get the giggles.

Audiobook version. Such a good story and excellent reading.

My mom read this book as a read aloud to me and my siblings. This was a good book! It's about a ten year old boy named Bud(not Buddy) who's mother is dead and his father unknown. Well, for now. He's determined to find his father, no matter what it takes. Nothing can stop him.

This was a sweet book that takes place in the Great Depression. I enjoyed it and I recommend it to kids ten and up.
