What a charming and beautiful story that takes place in my home state of Michigan. This Newbury Award winner is a must read.
A book about a boy that is on his way to find his father but what ends up to be an interesting story about how just how great things can look on the outside doesn't always fit the real picture. This would be a great book for students to read if they are having a hard time fitting in or for a read to the whole class if talking about history because it brings in many different things from our history into the book.

A charming story set in the great depression. Would be a good one for the boys!
I wasn't loving this book for a long time - and that's saying something because the book itself is not very long. But finally, one night the book seemed to pick up some momentum for me and I finished it. And I really, really, really liked it. It is a strong 3.5 stars for me just because even though I ended up really liking the book the first half was so so so so slow.
