I wasn't initially drawn in to this book but it definitely wrapped itself into a nice little bow by the end.

Plus the description of a piece of music was stellar and made me smile.

Finally got around to reading (listening) to this book. I enjoyed the audiobook production. It's always interesting to hear about the lives of people during different time periods. Bud ends up being one of the lucky ones.

I like to read the books my kids read so we can chat about them. My sixth grader enjoyed this book so much, he asked me to download ‘The Mighty Miss Malone’ by the same author which he looked up on his own accord when we finished. The story is woven like a sturdy basket and it sparked a lot of conversations about the Great Depression, racism, labor union organization and expectations of children back in the day. ❤️

I loved this book so much. Buds hootspa made the book so much fun, even as an adult!

3.5 stars. The narration seemed at times suspiciously insightful, and at other times very childish, for what we are supposed to believe is a ten year old boy. Nevertheless, the humor and lively narration kept this flowing along very smoothly.

Another book that filled my withered heart ❣️

This is a middle grade book set in the Great Depression. Bud is such a fantastic character, I absolutely loved him!!  It’s a quick, wonderful and heartwarming read.
