Archie's characters capture the voice of multicultural Australia. You can really hear and see the sights and sounds of home. Primo is in year 12 and really trying to be a good son protecting his mother as well as making sure his brother's wife doesn't dump him. But what lengths is he prepared to go to be a loyal son and brother and what consequences do his actions have? Damaging his father's prized classic car during a fight with his girlfriend leads Primo into making some wrong choices and forces him to reflect on the type of person he wants to be. There is also a dead dog somewhere in there, a friend who drives a hearse and family relationships that are interesting and anything but simple. In fact the events take some interesting turns and raises questions about the crossroad Primo has reached in his identity. I really enjoyed the book and would recommend it to year 9s and above.
