Loved it. 4.5 stars. I got my happy ending tied up in a neat little bow that I was expecting with the first novel. The magical world-building continued in the sequel and the whole multi-dimensional fantastical realm was really fleshed out. We got to know the history of WHY THINGS WERE SO FUCKED UP and some of the less-likable characters had some huge personal growth moments. I'm living for this type of YA fantasy fiction right now. I think I must need a break from real life or something.

I don't understand how Laini Taylor manages to write this kind of magic. She must be Mersathim herself!!!

A wonderful ending to a unique duology. It's a very unique story with lots of fun chaos and character development. It has a great group with a found family trope. It has a very sweet romance and crazy world building. She does make subtle references to her other series I thought was funny. It's a unique story and worth reading at least once!

I absolutely adored this book. Both books in the series were positively magical, and the plot and the characters and every single little detail is just spellbinding. These two books are absolutely some of the best I have read in a very long while, and I can’t wait to read more of Laini Taylor's books. The intricacy of the book is intriguing, I love how there is always a happy ending, but the ending doesn’t come without cost. It explores healing and growth rather than victory, and it is so unique. The world these books are set in is inconceivable with its magic and many worlds. Laini Taylor no doubt has an unbelievable talent for making the impossible worlds of this book seem merely out of reach because we don’t believe in them enough. The quotes are amazing. If I had one wish, it would be to live in the amazing worlds of Strange the Dreamer and Muse of Nightmares and discover my own talent as a Mesarthim. And that’s the other thing, maybe the rest of it isn’t real, but Laini Taylor must have some sort of magical power with her ability to bring fiction and fantasy to real life.

The Strange The Dreamer duology in which “Muse of Nightmares” is it’s sequel has some of the most beautiful writing I’ve ever read... and I’ve read a lot. Simply beautiful and heartbreaking and makes you look at “villains” in a totally different way. You will laugh and cry and cry some more and in the end you will... spoilers! All round great book.
