This book was the first I’ve ever read with a female Muslim main character. As a Muslim woman myself it was incredible seeing a character with shared culture and religion portrayed in positive light. Reading this book inspired my sister and I to start our own nonprofit, Girls of the Crescent, where we collect books with female Muslim main character and donate them to schools and libraries. We want young girls to experience the incredible being of belonging that comes with being represented and we also want people who are not Muslim to read about a culture that might not be familiar to them. I am so so grateful for this book.

This book is more than the plot. It gives both sides of the argument and leads to the right way.

This book was great i really enjoyed it.
I loved that this book had so many different cultures even though it dealt with serious issues such as racism towards some middle eastern countries. I believe it was a great to see both point of views towards this issue. Even though I don't agree with some of the views it was good to see their perspective.
The Characters were so unique and entertaining. I love the love/hate romance that orrcurred. And that it wasn't Insta love

I can see this is an important book because it's timely and deals with misperceptions and tensions around the Muslim immigration in the US. I didn't care for the constant dialogue and there was only one character who felt "real" to me, the main character's friend.

We have this on our Battle of the Books list for high schoolers. I'll be interested to hear how this resonates with that age.
