Gave it a try but still not a dark-romance girl. Fairly well done for what it is though.

I hated this book the whole time I read it, but it did keep me reading. The sex was fine, but every character relationship in this book is cringy and most aren’t believable. And there’s not a resolution at the end, you have to read the second book to get that closure. Feels like it was written on one of those short-story smut sites, but not a great one.

I read this in less than 12 hours. If you haven't read The Words, please do. While The Choice is centred around Memphis, Josh and Skylar, reading The Words first will help you understand what is revealed hurts so much.
I hate Josh. What a douchebag! I thought it in The Words but it was absolutely confirmed in this one. I really wish Skylar had met Memphis first then all of the pain could have been avoided.
Ashley, how can you make me wait for The Consequence!? 😭😭😭 I need it now. I desperately need Memphis to get his happy ending.

Read in one day

I devoured this story! I could not put it down and absolutely will be starting the second book instantly! It has angst, real life, love and pain. Go for it.

I’ve been reading Ashley’s books since 2017 and I can never get enough of her stories.
The Choice is book one in The Star-crossed Lovers Duet and one that I loved so much.
Being the first book, it’s a slow burn romance that takes us on a ride from the beginning of Skylar and Memphis romance.
We’ve met them both in The worlds and I was so excited when I heard that she’s going to write their books.
I loved how real and angsty and heart wrecking some of the scenes are, exactly as I was expecting from her.
Memphis might be a big boy but damn, his past is a wreaking ship and I needed a minute to recollect from that.
I hate cliffhangers with all my heart but I know that some stories need it for us to read the full version of it and I can’t wait to read the conclusion.
It’s unexpected, angsty and steamy. Just how I love them.
