Elena is the heart and sole of this series so it was great being back with her. The story felt very self contained and back to the basics of the first two books.

Elena and Clay are front and center in this tenth installment in the Women of the Otherworld series.

Elena's more front and center than she had realized when Jeremy tells her of his decision. A step with which Elena is very uncomfortable. Then a letter comes out of her past and it's too much with which to cope so Elena takes refuge in her Pack job---chasing mutts. The lead-in finds Elena chasing one mutt simply so she can warn him but her and Clay's reputations find him skittering off and leading them into a mess of trouble.

This might be a fortunate bit of trouble as Clay has been finding that, after 30 years, the fearsome rep he built is sagging and he needs to take another wolf down to "impress" this generation. Only, there seems to be more than one rogue pack and a lot of lone wolves snapping (or cowering) at their heels.

Interesting. Elena has to find her core and discover what is most important to her in this story while it seems that Clay has mellowed in some respects...who knew? Growth is imminent.

Alaska still has many secrets hidden in the uncharted hills and valleys. Elena is sent there to check on an elder pack member who has not been heard from in a while and also to check on some reports of missing humans. When she gets there she is aware that there is more going on here then anyone thought. Her life her sanity and her back story all come slamming down on her shoulders. She is alone, Clay is is another state, unaware of her situation. Something truly scary lurks and it has her scent, but this big bad is not the only bad thing coming for her. Elena is out numbered, out fought and there is no hope in sight.
Action packed, filled with harrowing moments that had me on the edge of my seat. There are some awesome new beasties found in the wilderness and many bodies. It brought a fresh new look to this couples story. It was wonderful to visit with Clay and Elena again, one of my favorite couples. I really enjoyed this edition to the series.

Yay. I still think Elena is probably the most interesting of Armstrong's characters, and I missed her. And now she's a mom! I'm curious to see if future books manage to have the kids actually appear in person instead of just over the phone.

Back to first person single pov thank god because if not I don't think I would've read any more of this series. It was an amazing quick read, loved getting to follow Elena again! although I didn't expect so much kidnapping/capturing since I thought Elena was better than that you know after the first fifty times it happened, but it was still really awesome.
