I absolutely devoured this book, as evidenced by the 24 hour completion. For someone whose husband claims that "she doesn't like comedy" (untrue) I find myself smiling broadly in the moments after finishing this book.

I love Mindy Kaling's work. From the Office to the Mindy Project to Inside Out, I'm a huge fan. And the reasons why all make an appearance in Why Not Me?. I am fairly certain that I laughed out loud on nearly every page. Her voice (literally, as her voice was what manifested in my mind as I read) spoke to me in a relatable way. It didn't matter that I have no idea how to appropriately apply makeup, or that I don't ever wear stiletto heels, my interest was steadfast. She has a section on best friends, and for the past day I felt like Mindy Kaling was =my= best friend.

If you want to laugh, if you want to hold your breath in anticipation, if you want to feel inspired, pick this memoir up yesterday.

parts of this were transcendantly funny, mostly in the first half. still overall better than her first book and her entire show.

I so enjoyed this book. It was laugh-out-loud hilarious in multiple places. I especially loved the bit about the two prep school teachers. I want Mindy Kaling to write a thousand romantic comedies like that one.
