Parts of this book are 2.5 stars, parts are 5 stars, and over all its more of a 3.5. I had rounded up to a 4 stars but in the process of writing this review, I realized its more of a 3 star book.
Abby Jimenez books typically deal with some serious themes while wrapping them in a lighter love story and this is no different. Kristen has uterine fibroids that severely impact her quality of life and she has decided to have a partial hysterectomy. Josh is the best man in her best friends up coming wedding who has recently broken up with his girlfriend because she does not want a family. They fall for each other. Josh doesn't know about Kristen's fertility issues but Kristen is aware of Josh's desire for a family. She tries to have a friends with benefits relationships but is unable to keep it surface level.
Much like Part Of Your World, this book needs to stretch really hard to make one issue into a huge thing that reasonable adults would normally work through in a healthy way. Kristen acts absolutely crazy and controlling regarding Josh and its a miracle he puts up with it. While both of Kristen and Josh are a little too perfect otherwise, I will let that part go. This is a romance book after all.
However, the last 1/4-1/3 of the book was so unexpected with the plot twist that was not related to Kristen's condition, and I was way more invested in that story arc then the previous parts of the book. I will definitely be reading the second book in the series since I got so invested in Sloan even though she was not the main character.
