This is such a good slow burn read. I took in this book as an audiobook and Angela Dawe is such a brilliant narrator, they did such a great job in making the world and characters real for me.

This was my 3rd Lee Winters read. Lee per usual is so good at character building that by the end of the book, I was deeply invested and enamored with both Bess and Summer.

Summer is one of my favorite “sunshine” characters I've read to date. While her usual demeanor is all smiley and happy oh, man does she have spine and fight in her. She's very protective of her “Ice Queen” and I adore her for it.

Looking back, I didn’t even notice that there is no miscommunication or third act breakup! That’s how you know it’s a good book.

I really enjoyed this book, and I will be dealing with a book hangover having to leave the “Breaking Character” world behind.

very enjoyable, especially if you’re a “i could never be an actor cause i would fall in love” type of person and love the fake dating trope.

I never read anything like this before when I picked it up (meaning F/F romance novels). I try to get around and read romance stories that I've never tried before and I have to say this one was worth every second. I seriously couldn't put it down! (or stopped listening to since I did the audio book)

The characters were really fleshed out and kept my attention every second. The story line itself kept me interested and had me gasping, tearing up, cheering, laughing, and above all else squealing for things to turn out as I had hoped. Also, the thing that really surprised me was how most of the characters were of different nationalities. Some characters were British, Scottish, Irish, French and a few others! It was so cool! The woman reading the book did a fantastic job with giving each character a voice that made them stand out among the others.

The story was about two actresses together on the same show. One of them, Elizabeth (Bess) was known in Hollywood as an Ice Queen and hated by most people due to her villianess character on Choosing Hope, a medical drama, or by nasty rumors created by scheming reporters and rude coworkers. The other actress, Summer, who started as a children's TV star and was a new character on Choosing Hope with Elizabeth as the new intern. Things started out rocky as Summer's clumsiness ended up with her accidentally spraying fake blood all over Elizabeth during their first scene in the new season. Then from there, Summer attempted to get to know the "Ice Queen" and apologize for what she had done.

At the start of their friendship, a scandalous photo of the two of them appears on the news causing them to try and avoid the rumors of being lovers. However, a French well known director calls them both in to perform in his newest movie, launching Elizabeth's career in a different direction, one that she'd prefer instead of acting in the medical drama that is seeking out to destroy her. Suddenly Elizabeth and Summer fake a relationship that will keep the director interested in keeping Elizabeth in the new film. But from then on....the line between fake attraction can be blurred.

The whole dynamic between Elizabeth and Summer was...awe inspiring, at least for me. The whole story itself was a slow burn and build up. They started as strangers, then to acquaintances, to friends, and to lovers. I loved that build up! Usually I love books where the couple has so much sexual tension that it'll just burst halfway through the story, but this one didn't do that. Instead, the plot took it's time in getting Summer to approach her idol. Summer wanted to get to know her, share tea with her, and attempt to show the world that Elizabeth wasn't as bad as Hollywood painted her as. It was nice.

The story showed me different things along the way: friendship, toxic friendships, overcoming fear, being vulnerable, the good and bad side to working in Hollywood, and of course acceptance. There were so many things that tried to stand in the way of the women getting close, such as Elizabeth's mentor, Grace. Boy, did I despise that woman so much! Oh and the network jerks from Choosing Hope. Also the the fact that both women weren't sure how to approach the whole 'being gay' part during their friendship. IT was a nice slow progression that made things so much worth it when I reached the end of the book. Especially when it came to intimacy towards the end. It was the almost full circle that I needed to understand that they went from strangers, to friends, to lovers.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and to see Elizabeth and Summer to read their happy ending. It was sweet, funny, heartbreaking, and heartwarming. I wish there was more to the story, but I'll be glad knowing how it ended.

It's a nice romance! Pretty hot, sweet, fun, and bland.
