It's corporate espionage disguised as science fiction. When the story had to interact with its setting of a moon colony, the author skirted around any hard-science explanations. How did the gravity boots work? The author has a newbie ask a long-time resident and she shrugs, "I don't know. They work." This is unacceptable.
