There is little for me to say that I haven't already said in my previous 4 reviews for these books. I've just been in a reading slump this last little while so I wanted my my emotional support Foxes. This book is the weakest of the three and it's still perfect, go figure.

Hello everyone, I'm home! It's been almost 2 years since I last read All for the Game and, because I have accepted that I can never escape its clutches, I knew a fourth readthrough was inevitable in 2021. I even accidentally read it on the second anniversary of the day I initially first read this book!

I've thought a lot about why I keep returning to these books and the best answer I can arrive at is that they are just that good. The characters are that lovable, the story is that enrapturing, Nora Sakavic's debut is just that insanely high quality.

I think The Raven King does a better job at drawing the reader in, as Sakavic finally tips her hand a little further on the team's true problems, but this book really invites you into the world of exy and the Foxes, making it this dangerous yet alluring world that Neil and the reader are both drawn into despite Neil knowing how bad it all could be for his survival.

Every character here plays everything incredibly close to the vest, showcasing just how mistrustful and hardened just about every Fox is, making for some incredibly satisfying and rewarding payoffs in The Raven King and The King's Men, but also creating a puzzle for Neil and the readers to solve when it comes to navigating each Fox's broken psyche, particularly Andrew's lot.

This is the sort of marathon I am literally always up for so, without further ado, onward to The Raven King.

There is something wrong with me. I have never done this before. Ever. It's already rare enough that I reread something, but reading something three times in just as many months? Never. Not even in my Twilight years did I do this.

I'm stuck in a loop. I can't get enough. This is getting to be less of a cute obsession and more of a problematic pattern.

Nevertheless, onward to The Raven King. Again. Again.

I can't get these books out of my system. I've never reread a book this soon after the first time I read it. These books are deep under my skin. Rereading them is either going to make it better or make it worse or make it better. Guess we'll find out which one it is! For now, onward to The Raven King...again!

Unrelated addendum: The first time I read this book, I was trying to read it the old fashioned way on my Nook. I don't read text on a page very much anymore, but for most of this book I was picturing Andrew (and Aaron for that matter) with dark hair and Kevin with blonde or light brown hair. When I later found out that Andrew was blonde, I didn't understand how I'd arrived at that conclusion, but upon the reread I finally figured out that I just got his and Kevin's coloring descriptors switched. Dunno why, but sometimes my reading comprehension sucks!

February 11, 2019:
It took me a hot minute, since I started reading this the old fashioned way, but I finally finished this up, thanks to Audible finally releasing this series on audiobook.

I really loved the characters in this book. The character dynamics reminded me a strange lot of The Raven Boys if The Raven Boys was made up of 60% Ronan, 30% Adam, and 10% for Gansey, Noah, and Blue. This is to say, all the people in this book are super angry and sad and fucked up and I ate it up. Again, the only thing that slowed me down here was the fact that I was trying to read the eBook.

I would spend a minute expounding upon the many many many reasons why I loved this book but I'm nearing the end of my break, so I'm just going to begin the next book and talk about it more there. Onward!

Unrelated addendum: It's funny that this reminded me of The Raven Boys because I first heard of this book when The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater had its title revealed back in 2014 or 2015 and, you might know, the next book in this series is also titled The Raven King, so when I went to go to the new Stiefvater book here on Goodreads, this series kept popping up on my radar. I'm just really glad I finally got around to it!

It was atrocious but it was short and I did laugh a few times. I think it would be unnecessary for me to accentuate everything wrong with this book, we all know it's bad and ridiculous, but that's precisely why I'm reading it. I expect the next two books to be crazy.

This was a solid book and the MC was super enjoyable to read about. I was completely engaged with Neil and wanting to find out what happened in his past that now his always ready to run away. Neil was definitely my fav character. As annoying as Andrew was and quite problematic he was also really interesting to read about. I have a soft spot for Kevin so Riko can just...go.

I liked how everyone was distinct and they had individual personalities which made them easy to read about. This book was intense and super complex. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I can honestly say I was not bored once and found myself interested enough to keep going.

Reread - 12/02/22 : I don’t have the biggest soft spot for Kevin anymore but I do feel bad for him. Neil is my absolute baby and the au book 1 ended just cemented that for once he wants to stay and be there with the foxes.

Andrew is really growing on me and I do adore his character as it’s just something so different. The way he has so much power that people just listen and are afraid of him. And when he said to Neil that his got his back..let’s gooo
