I gave Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries 5 stars, and I think I liked this sequel even more. I don't know if it's due to a change in the way Emily the character sees people or if it's due to having met some of these people before, but the characters felt more detailed. I felt much more attached and fond of  Wendell in this book and I really enjoyed the understated comfort of Emily's romance with him vs feeling like it was a weaker aspect of the previous book. This story also seemed more adventurous and fast paced, which I enjoyed despite not having any issue with the slower pace of the previous story. I am curious to see where the series goes from here. I recommend the audiobooks for this series, they suit the tone so well.

A reasonably good time, but didn’t live up to the hype of the first one. I will for sure continue in the series though, because this set us up for some fun stuff in the future!

It was wonderful being reunited with the characters I fell in love with during the first book. Wendell and Emily still have that same wonderful energy that made their banter so much fun to read. I love them even more now, which I didn't think possible. I even met some new characters that have grown on me.

The writing was just as magical as the previous book. It really feels like I'm in Emily's world. It was enjoyable to spend more time exploring Faerie and getting to learn about even more of the Folk who inhabit the world.

The story itself was very fun, it kept me on my toes with wondering what was going to happen next. There were a few mysteries that got unraveled and some left to explore in the next book. I'm very excited to see where the next journey takes us!

I dreaded having to put the book down, I just wanted to spend the whole day reading it! I'm definitely going to do another read through before the third book comes out!

I loved this book so much more than the first one! The story felt coherent, the scenery was intriguing and the fae were wonderfully cruel and scary.

Best of all, I liked how the romance(s) were portrayed. There was a refreshing down-to-earth feeling to it; Despite one character being unsure about a romantic decision, there were no tropes of miscommunication or endless back and forth. Only patience and trust.

I loved returning to Emily and Wendell’s worlds. I throughly enjoy Emily’s matter of fact personality and the banter between her and Wendell. While this book comfortably sits in the cozy fantasy genre, the mystery, action and moments of peril push the plot along at a satisfying pace.

4/5 I can’t wait to spend more time with them in the third book, Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales due for publication in 2025

A wonderful sequel that adds new elements to the story of Emily and Wendell while still maintaining the charm from the first. I liked all of the various new fairies, many were a fun combo of creepy and charming. While I can see this being an issue for other readers, I actually appreciated that Emily really keeps her stubborn and at times unfriendly, even cold personality towards others and only comes to realize the error in her ways till later on.

Excited for the next book in the series to see what is next in store for Emily and Wendell!
