Another great The Oatmeal book! This times it has dolphins, grammar lessons, hamsters with weapons, and more!

I have been following The Oatmeal comics for some years now. The comics are often quite rude and crude, but more often just hit the nail on the head, in other words, while it is crude/rude, it is often just so true. And you can't just help nodding along (while also shaking your head at the harshness).

For some reason I hadn't read this comic yet, I have read several of the other books by The Oatmeal, but it seems I missed this one. And I could I? The title is amazing, even me as a dolphin lover, can't help but laugh at the silliness of it all.

This book combines new and old, there are several new comics, but you can also find some oldies in this one. It was really fun seeing them back in this one, even if I knew them it was so much fun to read them again.

The art is typical The Oatmeal style, at times I wonder if it is good, but at other times I just don't care because the text is just so funny and you don't notice the rest.

My favourite parts would be the hamsters + weapons and the grammar/spelling lessons.

I would recommend this book to everyone, however, be warned, if you can't handle crude/rudeness then I would say leave this one, otherwise? Read it!

5 Very Good Reasons to Punch a Dolphin was a fun quick read. This book was a compliation of comics from TheOatmeal.com. My 2 year old kept insisting "My Book" whenever he saw the cover. Ummm, not so much, it may be full of pictures but the book isn't quite for kids. There are comics for everything from How to use an Apostrophe and Reasons that having Rabies is better than having Babies.

4.5 stars!

The Oatmeal's first book contains one of my all-time favorite of his comics: The 5 Types of Crappy Hugs. *swoon* I'd read most of the comics in this compilation before, but it was a while ago, so I found new enjoyment in re-reading them. Plus there were ones I'd never read. They are all good. Some are smile-worthy, some will make you chortle out loud, and many will make you ponder and perhaps even learn something.

If you don't know about The Oatmeal, this is a great place to start.

Are you tired of boring, stuffy self-help books that are about as entertaining as watching paint dry? Look no further than "5 Very Good Reasons to Punch a Dolphin in the Mouth and Other Useful Guides" by Matthew Inman.

In this hilarious and irreverent guide, Inman provides readers with unconventional advice for navigating life's trickiest situations. Need to know how to deal with a boss who won't stop talking about their cat? Inman's got you covered. Want to learn the best way to survive a bear attack? Inman's got some...unique tips.

But the real standout of this book is the titular chapter on punching dolphins. As it turns out, there are indeed some very good reasons to do so (no spoilers here, you'll have to read the book to find out). And if you're not convinced, just take a look at the charming illustrations accompanying each chapter. Who wouldn't want to punch a dolphin with a face like that?

Overall, "5 Very Good Reasons to Punch a Dolphin in the Mouth and Other Useful Guides" is a delightful romp through the absurdity of everyday life. So go ahead, give it a read. And if you see a dolphin, well...you know what to do.
