Very good plot, like most of her work--but I simply can't warm up to the main character Hanne Wilhelmsen, the closeted Norwegian police detective.

Death of a Demon was a surprising mystery and an interesting commentary on guilt and justice. This is the second in the series I've listened to, but could work fine as a stand-alone.

The suspect pool is small. It had to be someone who was supposed to be at the foster home, someone who knew his/her way around. As in most good mysteries, there are secrets and tensions, but I have to admit I really liked the ending. It caught me off guard.

I love this series, what started as a random find in my pubs bookshelf has turned into me reading this series. I love how it's a good old fashioned murder mystery but has the feel of a modern crime drama as well.

It definitely getting better than the first two books but it is still not good as my expectation. There is something missing about how the detective uncover the mystery by the deduction from facts. It is just doesnt feel right. It just doesn’t satisfy my curiosity. I also feel the characters should have been more developed by the book #3, I feel like I dont know the characters in the series.

Avea capul ras într-o parte.

Hanne is a quirky character, part irascible detective, part young woman. In this story, a woman who runs a shelter for children is found dead on the premises. As Hanne ad her detectives untangle the stories around this woman and a particularly sinister 12 year old, we are led to various murderers, each equally plausible. But who dunnit? You won't find out until the very end, but I guarantee you'll have a good time along the way.

Olav has been bad all his life and now he is being sent to a foster home. Not a normal foster home but an institution for hard cases.

Agnes Vestavik runs the home and is having a rough time in life. Her and her husband are on the verge of divorce, someone has stolen $30,000 from her account and someone has been embezzling money from the orphanage. To top it all off someone has murdered Agnes.

Hanne Wilhelmsen is a great detective, she is not however a good leader. She was recently promoted and she can't quite manage to delegate, she prefers to do it herself. She has a major secret of her own that she is struggling to keep to herself.

The book was okay but not something I have any urge to read more.

Not the best place to start in the series, but an enjoyable continuation. Hanne has just been promoted, and has to investigate the murder of the director of an orphanage. Great seeing the relationships develop, and well plotted crime. Definitely would recommend the series.
