Holy shit. Well, I wanted a good YA mystery/thriller, and I got one. That was deranged. Rue is my favorite character, followed closely by the panther.

Also, re: maggots and burning flesh—ew.

Brb gonna go read The Cask of Amontillado...

I— if the first book was good, this one has me floored. What am I supposed to do now that I've finished this duology? The only thing I can think to compare it with right now is Season 2 of Link Click; while the two don't have much in common, what they share is a universe and story set up perfectly in the first book/season, so that the second part just takes off and absolutely thrives. Every moment of this was a wonder, and the way everything soared in a crescendo until the conclusion... Pure genius.

Also, Brynn (and Hugh, but mostly Brynn) deserves a shoutout. That's all.

Really enjoyed this series. A nice touch of tension and revenge. Worth reading both!
