This is a fantastic book! It is a very interesting look at the porn industry and the experiences of Black women within the industry. I enjoyed reading the interviews and quotes from the porn actresses the author talked to.
She does a fantastic job showing how negative representations of Black women in porn today actually come from slavery. She also details the ways in which Black women in the industry resist these representations and work to create new ones.
The language is pretty dense and academic, but it's really well-written. It just took me some time to get through it.

"This book asks us to think about what black feminists might learn from pornography’s outlaws. Black women are claiming a pornographic gaze for themselves. We must explore the radical possibilities and
constraints that their work offers and exposes. There exists a
generalized resistance, by academics and others, to taking
seriously how black women exist within and shape the life of
pornography, in part due to a politics that has circumscribed our ability to understand and appreciate black women’s varied
experiences of eroticism and pleasure in the context of always
present exploitation and pain. But what if pleasure is one of the
most radical tools black women can mobilize to intervene in their
oppression?"
