It’s not my favorite of Katherine Neville's books; however, I still really liked it. I give it a 4 out of 5. The only reason it wasn't a 5 is because of how quickly the ending happened. It felt like too much happened in the last 50 pages, and everything wrapped up too quickly. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed it and still believe that Ms. Neville is a genius!

(read this in its Hellenic translation)
I absolutely love this book. Although this is not my usual genre, I absolutely loved it.
The story is gripping, the pace is wonderful, the research behind it must have taken some time (granted, not as much as Kostova's Historian but still), the characters are very likable and one in particular, the main character's mentor and computer whiz or guru, is absolutely wonderful.
I've read other books by Neville as well but I can certainly say that even if others may be better books (the Eight comes to mind), better researched and on a much greater scale, this is the one I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish.

I have read this book 4 or 5 times now. Every time I pick it up off my bookshelf, I think that it's a book I haven't read yet. It doesn't take me long to realize I have read it, I just can't remember much about it. The fact that I've kept this book instead of giving it away says that it's a good book. It's just not a memorable book.

To this day I am still impressed by the foresight Ms. Neville had into the banking industry and what the future would hold. And it is one of the few books where I don't guess the final answer/villain within the first few chapters.

Probably considered a techno-thriller when it was published, although too slow paced to be one by today's standards.

More of a mathematical adventure. In the style of Dan Brown but better. This adventure just draws you in and won't let you put it down. A book that makes you think - who would have thunk it. Dare to read it and get addicted to Katherine Neville's works. If you've never read this author before read The Eight - it is by far her best novel yet. The sequel is out now to it as well so the fun can keep going in The Fire.
