I absolutely loved this book, the only thing was the writing style sometimes (only sometimes, mostly it was fine) made the flow a bit strange, but the actual content of the book more than made up for it. I would definitely recommend it!

I found the plot too predictable and the characters incomplete. I think I might come back to it one day just to finish it, I was just frustrated that the plot had so much potential and it didn’t live up to my expectations.

This was a cool retelling/subversion of the Cinderella story. There were some cool twists regarding who was on the side of good versus evil. I feel like the ending wasn't quite all there though: enough other people were buying into the bad system that I don't buy just getting rid of the one dude is really enough to get to where we're at in the epilogue. Also, people were behaving in understandable ways given the oppressive system they were living under and it's understandable why the main character was frustrated by them, but I would have liked more discussion in the narrative of why their behavior made sense to them.

I usually don't enjoy fantasy, but this book has little world building and doesn't linger too long on the fantasy elements (like magic). It touches on heavier topics but it's still a fun read. I really enjoyed it.

A fantastically unique retelling of Cinderella that is both distopian and feminist. It was all o had hoped for and can't wait to read more by the author
