"HELL IS EMPTY, FOR ALL THE DEVILS ARE HERE".

This started off a bit confusing and somewhat like a rhyme, but I must say this was really good. The story felt as though I was reading about Jack the ripper and boy did it make my skin crawl.

I recently read Ripper Country and decided to give this short story another read. I loved this little read and the macabre feel it produces. Jack has cleverly crafted this read to make the reader feel part of the audience in Chapman’s performance of his ‘Funny Little Games’.

The descriptions of the East End and the way the protagonist described the ‘slums’ of the streets was clever and brought the story to life. I loved how Chapman was, in a sense, inspired by Jack the Ripper and felt he had to clean up the destitute of the East End, whilst also getting a huge kick for himself.

I really enjoyed this read and highly recommend you check both Funny Little Games and Ripper Country out!

Now I'm a fan of Harding's work, and this was well written, but I'm just not a big fan of Jack the Ripper type stories. And I know the main character wasn't supposed to be likeable in the slightest, but I hated their narration throughout the story.

It's just a personal preference, obviously this wasn't for me!

This is my first Jack Harding and he did not disappoint. After reading this creepy short story, I was able to come up with this cover design. I don't typically care for Jack the Ripper type of stories but this one was good. Great ending!

I look forward to reading more from Harding.

REALLY enjoyed this quick read. I felt like I was walking alongside the main character the whole time. I felt the unease and tension every step of the way.
