Whilst impossible to fit the history of the world into one book and cover everything, it's focus got lost repeatedly. With barely any discussion about significant historical women from Africa or South America and the overlooking of indigenous women in most countries it fell flat in a few areas. It's primary focus on Europe and the Middle East meant Islamic history and Women were focused on far more than other histories, it inadvertently ignored a lot of Jewish, Hindu, Sikh and other religious women and history. It also brushed over topics such as slavery and colonialism/imperialism to quite a degree in areas.
That said, it is still an interesting read, especially for school aged readers and had some interesting deep cuts instead of just parroting the famous names you would expect.
The 'modern' section of the book did just become a retelling of history with very few notable women and lost its way at the end, such as touching of suffragettes but never following through to discuss suffrage movements actually succeeding and how this process took place in many countries.
Overall a decent read I am glad I picked up. It mostly did well with handling the scope and it's pace. It's detractions are just quite noticeable, but as a starting point it was interesting.

Found this really interesting as a book about general history, with woman's stories sprinkled in the relevant areas, which I much preferred to it only being focused on those stories. The cover and first pages have such gorgeous illustrations which I would have loved to be throughout the book but weren't. It was a lot of information to take it but it was easy to read.
