To simply put this, Just Mercy is a very important and powerful book that is also a difficult book to read. Difficult because the pages are filled with hard and cruel circumstances to digest. At times, I was horrified. Often, I felt sad and angry at the injustice many have to live through and still encounter. Scared at how easy it is for a system to take advantages of the marginalized, underserved and poor of this country. Empowered because my eyes have been opened to truths I did not know or understand. I have been feeling a strong pull towards advocacy, especially to the disabled, and that pull has intensified. Just Mercy has made a huge impact on my life. This book now resides on my shelf and I desire for all my children to read it. It's definitely a must read.

My heart and mind struggled through so much of this book. There are very few books that truly have a lasting impact on my soul. This is one of them! I do not use the term “must read” but in this case I will!! This is absolutely a MUST READ.

No matter your opinion about our legal system and individual rights, this sheds light on things we would like to ignore or disregard. If you are a human, this will give you a perspective that is critical understanding the intricacies of a reality that many of us have never experienced. A book is never a replacement of reality. But this book provides you a glimpse of the emotions and frustration that can be felt in the most desperate situations.
Warning: reading this will make you want to do something to make a difference!

Accessible for someone who doesn’t know the intricacies of law, might be confusing for a non-American. A really important exploration of the death penalty and the legal system in the US.
