I enjoyed this immensely. However, I think it’s not without problems. This book might’ve helped me in many ways if I were to read it in high school or even younger, but now my horizon’s beyond it.

The more I think about it, the more it doesn’t sit right with me. I believe we are well past the point where sexual behavior is seen as a revolutionary act. And "I feel like slapping her to wake her up (p. 69)" ughh.. all too familiar. Throughout this story, every time she thinks or behaves erotically, her lips become suddenly full. This inconsistent depiction endorses the idea that a woman's desirability somehow translates into the onlooker's accessibility. A body's appearance has nothing to do with its sexuality. I particularly feel icky about in the end she transformed into a conventionally attractive feminine body (ie. have ample bosom) to signify her sexual awakening and empowerment, all the women characters who fxxk men are depicted with such features, which felt very much sexist and reminiscent of my teenage years where the girls with small chests were teased that “they need to find a boyfriend to help them stimulate and grow their chests”.

This story is about a rich white lady “finding herself”, she dresses in/as a man to temporarily set the gendered restriction aside. There’s nothing wrong with it, a historical fictional girlie gotta do what she gotta do; but here’s also a slippery slope, some transphobes argue that at the root of trans-masc is the gender gap. I've heard opinions as outrageous as “isn’t (AFAB) non-binary intrinsically misogynistic and cowardice because they seek to renounce the feminine identity and thus cut tie with feminist movements.” The idea that any time a gendered woman steps out of traditional femininity can only be out of inconvenience and can’t possibly be an act of truthfulness and authenticity.

It was nice, and I kind of loved the ending
The artwork was pretty, but I could have asked more from them; kinda don't live up to the cover that much, BUT IT WAS NICE
even tho the concept art was better for me
but it was so nice
it had me interested in the story a lot

a bit weird at points but I really liked both the message (feminism, diverse families, anticonformism, lgb acceptance and anti-religion mindset: I’m sat!) and the art
