"It is silliness to live, when to live is torment; and then have we a prescription to die, when death is our physician." And here I thought Hamlet was dramatic. Loved this one albeit partially because I watched Vishal Bhardwaj's amazing adaptation Omkara right before reading. The start of this play had me laughing out loud while the end was just so chaotic, I couldn't even smile anymore. Lots to say about this but I already wrote a whole paper on it so I'll leave it at this.

Probably my favorite of Shakespeare's plays. LOVE Othello.

I usually go into a Shakespearean play with an open mind and leave with satisfaction, but I still can't get over Othello. I guess it's how Othello kills Desdemona over a handkerchief... but then again that was his mother's. As per usual, I appreciate the work, but I don't really like it. Of all the Shakespearean plays, I liked Othello the least. I don't completely dislike it, but I wasn't crazy about this.

As with a lot of Shakespeare plays, most of the characters in this play make you facepalm with their naivete and/or stupidity. Frequently. In fact, the only character I really came close to admiring (since he brilliantly - well, almost - plays everyone else to achieve his goals; imagine if his skills were used for good) was Iago.
This was a fascinating play about love, treachery, emotional manipulation, pride and about putting your trust in the right people. It was easier to read as well compared to many other works of Shakespeare.
Once again, the commentary in this audiobook was of great help in really appreciating the play as it did an excellent job not only in explaining it but also in detailing the historical context to various specific events or aspects in the play.
