As short story collections go, one of the better ones I've read. I liked too that they ran in roughly chronological chunks, so you could trace her development as a writer and as a... I want to say 'person', but I really mean 'consciousness', or 'subjectivity'. A point of view. Towards the end, she got more transparent, more liberal with the real details she let slip through. Her colours grew richer.

Some particularly exquisite ones, if you're short on time and want a quick taste of Rhys's skill with the short story form: "Till September Petronella", "Tigers Are Better-Looking", "Good-bye Marcus, Good-bye Rose". Oh, and "Kikimora" just for the fun.

so I didn't read all the stories, we only read a small selection but I can't simply have it sitting on my currently reading shelf and I liked them so I wanted to rate it and social media is arbitrary why do I have to follow rules????
