A Mink of One's Own - 3/5 - Aggressively fine.
The Shape of Things - 2/5 - The writing lowkey confused me
Jug of Silver - 2.5/5 - Flat as a 2 weeks old soda
Miriam - 2/5 - Ok?
My Side of the Matter - 2.5/5 - I hope the narrator gets stabbed fifty times
Preacher's Legend - 2/5 - Ok...
A Tree of Night - 3/5 - This was so fucking weird, I have no idea what happened, but I... liked it?
The Headless Hawk - 4/5 - I don't know why this worked for me, I don't exactly know what was going on but I liked it
Shut a Final Door - 2/5 - I didn't get it...
Children on Their Birthdays - 4/5 - Damn that ending
Master Misery - 5/5 - I want a whole novel of whatever this is.
The Bargain - 3/5 - Truman Capote is obsessed with stories about women selling mink coats to each other
A Diamond Guitar - 4/5 - This one was pretty good, it's one of the most "classic" (normal) of this collection so far
House of Flowers - 2/5 - Respectfully, no.
A Christmas Memory - 5/5 - This made me cry so much I have to give it 5
Among the Paths to Eden - 4/5 - This one was fun.
The Thanksgiving Visitor - 2/5 - Cool, so Buddy is unforgivable for what he did but bullying is ok. Cool cool.
Mojave - 2/5 - There were too many threads in this story that were left unresolved for me to like it
One Christmas - 4/5 - Why does T.C. love to make Christmas sad

I read this book of short stories one a day. My timing was great for the holiday stories.

A couple of particularly wonderful stories in this collection - I really enjoyed A Christmas Memory and Jug of Silver. I did get a little confused at times, as many of the same names are used in different stories.

Why do I often think older works are going to be stuffy and work to read? These stories are great! Lots of psychological examinations going on here and some good old creepy fun Hitchcockian style.

Disturbing, sexy, eccentric, tacky, funny and fashionable are all descriptors of these stories and the man who wrote them.
