This almost had a Daughter of Smoke and Bone feel to it but not.

I found myself really enjoying this book and there is not book 2? even though this came out a few years go? come on now...

There were parts that I found myself rolling my eyes but I really enjoyed the world she created and the different monsters and characters. I was so involved in all that yes!

the romance was typical but I still became invested. so now lets get book 2 out, come on!

Just okay

I had high hopes for this one but it just barely held my attention. Definitely got better towards the end but left on a cliff hanger and there’s no plan for continuing the series.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. Review can be found on *Milky Way of Books*

I love Laura Thalassa's writing. She knows how to give depth to her characters and how to create worlds that are believable and realistic. I was quite surprised when I saw that this book was co-written with her husband and I admit that they did an amazing job!

"Blood and Sin" takes place in today's US where Lana, an Infernari Healer Demon, must find a way to save her dying race which resides in a parallel world. When Jame Asher, a notorious Hunter, gets in her way, an adventure will begin which might bring the two enemies together.

Told by alternative POVs we get to see both Lana's and Asher's mind. They are both tormented, have their own ghosts to deal with and the way they try to name their thoughts is quite well-written and greatly developed.

Also, the way other demons were shown was damn amazing. I thought for a moment that I was watching an anime with those fighting scenes and not reading a book.

The ending was brutal. It's kind of cliffhanger-ish which I hope to be solved in the next one. Asher did THAT horrible thing and has a lot to answer for.

Highly recommended and my deepest thanks to the authors who provided me with this ARC! ;)

The only reason this gets 3 stars is because the story is not complete, insinuating a sequel, and there is no information of a sequel on the horizon. (Og published 7 years ago!)

I really enjoyed this book otherwise. I loved the new layers of the demons and humans. Ended up really liking the enemies-to-lovers, slow burn, grumpy sunshine. Wish the story would be finished. Then it would be 4 stars.

My Rating System:
5 ★ Masterfully created work of art with many strong qualities. Will re-read. Cannot imagine my life without it. Devastated it is over.
4 ★ Solid Work. Enjoyed from beginning to end.
3 ★ Decent with poor execution in some manner. Neutral.
2 ★ Wasn't good but not completely bad. Only 1 or 2 redeeming qualities
1 ★ DNF and/or no redeeming qualities

I gave it two stars because there were moments of humor that I enjoyed but the end ruined it for me. she was too naive and trusting and James was a jerk that couldn't let go of this need for vengeance. there are some betrayals you can never come from.

I honestly loved this book! Archer is mainly the reason for this. I've grown tired of misogynistic, alpha males who are perfect. Archer is far from perfect. He makes terrible decisions and is an equal opportunity demon killer. However, he is incredibly funny and realistic. Lana is too sweet, but I'm expecting to see that change in the second book. Eagerly awaiting book 2!

4.5 stars

Have y'all seen the video of the deer screaming? Starts off small, increases in volume and frustration the longer its drawn out? YouTube and you'll understand how I felt about this book.

A few things:
Lana was not the 'hot-blooded, feral' demon we were promised. Anything but, actually. Meek, demure, willfully dense. As for Asher, he was an emotional rollercoaster. A tool.

Nearing the end of the book, I was at a solid 1 star and almost didn't finish it, but when I did, I ramped it up to a three star because the ending was right up my alley.

And on another note: Glocks do not have the conventional external safety near the rear of the slide. Its a sequence action lever within the trigger function. That annoyed me. You can literally -look- at the damn thing and see that.

4/5 stars! I didn’t know what to expect when I one-clicked this baby. I bought it because the cover is fucking fantastic. I mean.. look at it! It’s gorgeous.

The book was fantastic! It was intriguing, sexy and funny. I loved how Lana’s mind works! And the ending.. Dayum! Did not see that coming at all!
All in all I would recommend it.
Also I haven’t read anything of Dan Rix’s work but I will be checking him out

Would have been a higher rating but asher is a hateful bigot. Lana deserves better. Brad deserved a better brother.
