I admit I love the occasional noir, and reading a book so completely of its time was refreshing with the really different writing style & POV. I think if it had been a 300-page book like most are today I would have liked it a lot less. 3.75 stars

A good quick read. If you're looking for a classic noir mystery this one would be a good choice. I hear a lot of people like the movie better than the book so I am curious about it.

was honestly shocked by how engagingly written this was considering it's almost one hundred years old. it is Exactly what you would expect but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Reading this for my class, Crime Literature and Film, I'll be honest. I didn't expect much from it. The material we had studied up until this point did not catch my interest like I had hoped it would, but this book was wonderful. It was very well written, simple but exciting and intriguing. I would recommend it to any Crime Lit fans.
