I started this because of TellTale Games "The Wolf Among Us", and I was not disappointed. The other volumes are in my future. It's a side of the fables I grew up with, only with a realism twist that satisfies my nerdy, adult side.

A fun murder mystery and a solid introduction to an urban fantasy world. There is a lot of potential for this set up and I look forward to continuing the series!

The European fairy tale characters have taken refuge in New York when the Adversary took over their world in the multiverse. They live in an enchanted block called Fabletown; where they have their own government and rules to make sure non-magical people never learn about them. The fables have settled into a routine...but that all changes when Jack Horner goes to Fabletown's sheriff (Bigby, The Big Bad Wolf) to report Rose Red's disappearance. As Bigby and Snow White work together to solve the case, Snow White must also take care to keep the fable community at peace.

A very interesting comic book that puts fairy tales in a modern setting for adult readers. A bit slow, but this first volume is clearly a way to build the world. A good choice for adult readers as well as young adult readers.

Fairy tales transported to modern world. What could be better?

A then-boyfriend turned me onto this series back at university. It was unlike anything I had read at the time. He was a big comic book/gaming/horror film nerd and his tastes have rubbed off on me. It was almost required reading and after this came Civil War. Enjoyed both series at the time, but haven't thought to pick them up again for myself since we broke up....and that was some time ago. About time I revisit them I think.
