Very easy read especially for a non-fiction book. I don't tend towards non-fiction but this topic was interesting to me. I agree with a lot of the author's views on how death is handled in our society as I have thought death denial was an odd approach for a culture to choose when it is indeed inevitable. I loved learning more about this part of the death industry and ideas across cultures. The author's narration is approachable and vulnerable. I recommend this book.

An enlightening and entertaining read about a subject most people don’t want to confront: death. Caitlin Doughty doesn’t shy away from the various gruesome details of working in a crematory and how bodies decompose, but written in an earnest tone (and often darkly comedic), those bits of information are easy to stomach, and to me, fascinating. Although the read was a bit slow at times, I definitely gained new knowledge from reading it, and I will likely ponder America’s death industry for a while, asking myself the question: how would I define a “good death”?
