This was ok. I love the art.
As someone who is also ND, I found this quite bleak to read. It’s really informative which will be great for those who want to understand more about how overwhelming ‘simple’ things can be when you’re ND. This is by no means a bad book, but personally, I didn’t enjoy reading it.

A very personal opinion...
5 plus plus.
Many times, I have wished there was a manual of instructions for someone like me, and here it is. It not only helps me to accept that I am not alone in many of these situations, but yes I am too because when sadness and burnout come we're deep in a well, but also that I shouldn't feel guilty or sad about it. It is something that may have been aggravated after quarantine, but I felt like this all my life. The anxiety, the uncertainty of the best action, the need for isolation, for taking a break, being unable to belong. I'm in my 40s now, and it hasn't changed. It probably only got worse (because hope diminishes). So thank you, author, for this and the end. We don't always have to have perfect skies. There is beauty in cloudy storms, too.
This one was emotional for me.
Say thanks if you don't understand this book because it means you are in a better place.
Perfect format and design, l love the color scheme as well. Large drawings and artwork, well-balanced humor, and sadness. Makes the perfect gift, and it is a good reminder to have always around.
Thank you, publisher, for the copy. Some books come to us at the right moment.

This book summarises so many struggles and experiences I have with mental illness. Some pages were like being given a warm hug while others made you (gently) reflect on some of your behaviours that may not be the most beneficial all while maintaining a hopeful outlook, or that was my experience. I absolutely love the art style, her cartoon character was so cute and I loved the colour palette she used. I’ll be buying a physical copy to keep on my bookshelf for when things get rough and I need a reminder I’m not alone in my struggles. Highly recommend :)

This is such a good book. It was new at our library and I grabbed it and read it over my lunch break. It’s a collection of mini comics and the artwork is cute and the information is so meaningful. My neuro-spicy brain felt seen and appreciated while reading this!

thank you Netgalley, Bex Ollerton & Andrews McMeel Publishing for an advanced readers copy of Lavender Clouds
Lavender Clouds is a series of comics collated together into one book that focus on neurodivergence & mental health
the comics range from deep, emotional turmoil to funny, personal portrayals of life with mental illness & neurodivergence.
Bex Ollerton is super talented, i really enjoyed the style of the art and the colours really popped & i love the more serious, philosophical comics being in black and white
as someone that suffers from mental health and is neruo spicy, this was such a welcoming read, it really showcases that while everyone has their own battles we are not alone 🥰🫶🏻

Lavender Clouds is a beautifully illustrated collection of comics centered around the author Bex Ollerton's life. As a fellow neurodivergent, I immediately jumped at the chance to read this one.
At first, I really enjoyed everything. The colour pallet and the illustrations themselves are so artfully done; I found a lot of joy just looking at them. I found myself relating heavily to a lot of the phrasing and words, sometimes even giggling at how true it all felt. However, then I found it becoming very repetitive and at times a little taxing on my own brain. It became tricky with the amount of negativity going on that my own brain starting feeling that like a mantra. All I can recommend is; if you are neurodivergent and struggle with feelings of inadequacy or negative connotations - this one might need to be read and enjoyed in small stages.
Thankyou to Andrews McMeel Publishing, NetGalley and Bex Ollerton for a chance to read this as an early release. Lavender Clouds is set for release June 25th, 2024.

At first I liked this book. I am neuro divergent and could relate to what was being said. However it only focused on the negative and after a while it started to not only drag on and get repetitive but also make me depressed and anxious. I wish some of the positive aspects had been shown and/or the book had been shorter. I got an advanced readers copy from net galley but my opinion is my own.
